Professor Mary Barker
Mary Barker is Associate Professor of Psychology at the University of Southampton based at the Medical Research Council Lifecourse Epidemiology Unit. The focus of her research is to find ways of improving public health through supporting young women to better nourish themselves and their children, thereby preventing the long-term consequences of sub-optimal development in utero and in the first years of life. She is interested in establishing methods of supporting large-scale behaviour change. She is a co-opted member of the Health Psychology in Public Health Network committee, advising and using her links with wider organisations to support the network.
