Achieving Behaviour Change: A Guide for Local Government and Partners

Behaviour Change Guide for Local Government & Partners - Launch Webinar

Public Health England's Behavioural Insights team (PHEBI) and UCL's Centre for Behaviour Change (CBC) invite you to a webinar to launch a new guide to behaviour change for local government on Wednesday 19 February 2020.

Many of the goals of local government and partners (e.g., emergency services, NHS, third sector) depend on the behaviours of those who live and work in the local area. For example, improving public health, reducing air pollution, tackling issues regarding household waste and energy usage, and regenerating high streets all rely on the behaviours of individuals, groups and organisations.

This new guide provides a structured approach for stakeholders to harness the potential of behaviour change when working towards such goals. Specifically, the guide focuses on the Behaviour Change Wheel, a tool developed by the UCL CBC that can be used to develop behaviour change interventions from scratch, improve existing interventions, or help select the most appropriate intervention when a range of opportunities exist.

The webinar will be chaired by Dr. Tim Chadborn, Head of PHEBI and Evaluation Lead. Speakers include world-leading behaviour change experts Professor Susan Michie and Professor Robert West from UCL CBC, and founder member of the Behavioural Science in Public Health Network, Health Psychologist Dr. Michelle Constable. The speakers will present a brief introduction to the guide before leaving ample time for questions and discussion.
